Organise your questions before you start. This practical guide helps you prepare for a provider conversation; it is not an assessment checklist.

A clearer first conversation

You do not need to upload documents to make an initial enquiry. Begin with a summary of your experience and the questions you want answered.

Outline your experienceList your roles, dates, key responsibilities and the tasks you personally carry out.
Choose an area to discussIdentify a qualification interest and explain what you want it to help you do.
Identify possible work examplesMake a list of relevant materials, without sharing confidential or third-party information.
Locate previous training recordsNote which certificates, transcripts or statements of attainment you already hold.
Think about suitable refereesIdentify people who directly know your work. Ask permission before sharing their details.
Prepare provider and fee questionsAsk for the RTO details, current course code, assessment requirements and full written quote.
Check occupational requirementsAsk whether licensing, registration or additional training applies to your goals.
Wait for secure document instructionsUse the initial enquiry for general information. Do not send IDs or confidential records through it.
